We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new Bone Densitometry Unit at Metropolitan Medical Center’s Nuclear Medicine Department, equipped with the state-of-the-art GE Lunar Prodigy Bone Densitometer. Advanced Services We Offer

Our new Bone Densitometry Unit offers a comprehensive range of services, including:

    1. Central and Whole Body DXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry): Accurate assessment of bone mineral density for key areas like the hip, spine, and entire body.
    2. Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA): An advanced feature that allows for the early detection of vertebral fractures, which can be an early indicator of osteoporosis.
    3. Total Body Composition Analysis: Provides detailed information on body fat, lean mass, and bone mass, helping to guide personalized health and fitness strategies.

Who Should Consider Bone Density Testing?
We recommend bone density testing for:

  • Women aged 65 and older.
  • Men aged 70 and older.
  • Younger Women and Men with risk factors such as low body mass index (BMI), history of fractures, smoking history, excessive alcohol use, certain medications (e.g. glucocorticoids, hormone deprivation therapy for cancer), or diseases that affect bone health (e.g. chronic kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes mellitus)
  • Individuals with a family history of fractures or osteoporosis.
  • Patients undergoing Osteoporosis Therapy to monitor treatment efficacy.
